Does Britain win Gold for Olympic Legacy?

The year of 2012 will be famous for many reasons. Perhaps the most important, the release of the musical masterpiece Gangnam style. Fortunately for us, this is not the most prominent reason. The Olympic Games sought it’s home in the city of London for the summer of 2012, and in true English style we held our stiff upper lips and admired as patriotism championed. A feeling of fellowship with one another, a true common point of interest whether or not one was complaining or praising the work of the Olympic team.

If we are ruthlessly honest about the Olympic legacy, your argument may well be the expenditure of the country to prove herself as the leading host, and as the mascot’s so proudly emphasised to ‘Inspire a Generation’. The mascots of which I have recently discovered are ‘Drops of steel with cameras for eyes’… seemed to forget that Britain had to spend nine Billion Pounds to create a so-called ‘legacy’.

However does the debt controversy not become slightly monotonous as we look back on the summer of 2012. A summer of inspiring athletes pushing themselves to the boundary of pure excellence, a crowd of 80,000 roaring for their favorite to win. Flags rigorously twirling in the stands like tsunamis across the ocean. Shivers begin shooting up the spine as if the starting gun has hit London where it really hurts, and exposed our true essence, our true perspective, like blood pouring from the wound. Where we praise our country for it’s outstanding talent. The legacy left when the torch had burnt out and the stadium was emptied of the masses, as she stood silent, was we can do anything. The games left an imprint of pride, perseverance and prosperity upon the people of England. The United Kingdom proved it can construct a legacy so powerful it inspired worldwide. I will never forget the thunderous blasts of cheers when I joined the crowds of the stadium in that sunny August, or the infectious joy that swelled throughout, encompassing even the most pessimistic individuals that day. Perhaps I am too sentimental about the Olympic Games… So please comment how the Olympics Inspired you. Did Britain really win Gold in 2012?
